Adrian’s Student Government Association (SGA) held committee head elections for the upcoming 2025-2026 academic year. With these elections came seven new faces to fill in as leaders for the current SGA committees. The current committees are as follows: Events Planning, External Affairs, Green Action, Internal Affairs, Mental Health, Special Projects, and Student Organizations.
Starting off, the new committee head of Events Planning is Owen Callahan. Callahan is a freshman and has already had some experience with this position, having taken it over halfway through last semester. He stated that he is extremely excited to be holding on to the position and has planned out his second-ever blood drive, the last of this semester, which will be happening next month. He has aspirations of expanding the committee and cross-programming events with fellow committee heads and other organizations on campus.
Next up is the new committee head for External Affairs, Emily Ventrone. She is the current 2028 class president and has big plans for the following semester. Ventrone wants to invest more time into SGA’s social media presence by hosting more social events for SGA, as well as cross-programming with other organizations on campus.
The Green Action Committee is the newest addition to the SGA committees and is now headed by Dylan Cumberland, a sophomore. Cumberland has a lot of plans for the future of this committee, with the main goal in mind being education on the importance of recycling. He plans to do this through movie nights, public outreach, and being more present at events around campus and is excited for the semester ahead!
Internal Affairs is now headed by freshman Sidney Pentoney, who is also the 2028 class Vice President. She plans to stick to SGA’s constitution and use the committee as a small backbone for the club, and wants to help keep SGA running smoothly. With this, she also plans to help keep the club relevant and prosperous.
SGA’s Mental Health committee is now headed by junior Abbey VanAssche, who is also a player on the Women’s Lacrosse team. Vanassche is excited to help promote a more positive environment on campus and help educate others on the importance of mental health.
Next up is Special Projects, which is now headed by Matthew Graham, who also holds many other positions in clubs around campus, as well as having been elected to be the 2028 class president next semester. His goal with this committee is to put projects in action that will spark excitement on campus for his peers and do things that haven’t been done before by SGA.
Finishing off the line-up of committee heads is Lexie Lafata who is a sophomore and will be heading Student Organizations. She’s excited to hold this position and plans to help SGA get more in contact with other organizations on campus while planning fun events around campus!
