Most of the sports here on the campus of Adrian College play through multiple semesters, however there are a few sports that start their seasons during the spring semester. The spring semester has sports exclusive to it that include Bass Fishing, Men’s Volleyball, Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse, Baseball, and Softball.
Some of the sports previously mentioned have already started at the time of this article. Bass Fishing is currently in Florida for their first competition of the year. Bass Fishing is one sport on campus that does not actually compete on campus or even in the state of Michigan. The other sport already underway is Men’s Volleyball as they started their season on January 16th, and they are off to a 1-5 start. Their next matchup being a Tri-Match at Home against Maranatha Baptist and Olivet on Saturday, Feb. 1st. Men’s Volleyball will have six more home matches the rest of this year.
Women’s Lacrosse is the next Bulldog sport to take action as they begin play on Feb. 5th at 7:00 PM. They will face off with Siena Heights University in a cross city battle inside Docking Stadium. The Women’s Lacrosse team will play six of their 16 games at home. The squad finished 5-9 last year with a 2-6 Home record.
Men’s Lacrosse is the next sport to start its regular season off as they will start play on Feb. 15th on the road at Christopher Newport University in Virginia. Their home opener will be against Kenyon College on February 22nd inside Docking Stadium. They’ll play eight of their 17 games at home this season. They finished last year 8-8 overall with a 3-2 record at home.
Bulldogs Baseball will have a large road trip to start off the spring season, beginning on February 14th and going until March 16th. During this road trip they will start with a large chunk of neutral site games. Once they return home they will open against Heidelburg at Nicolay Field on March 18th. The Bulldogs had a strong season last year finishing 33-16 overall and 10-7 inside Nicolay Field. They made it all the way to the NCAA Super Regionals last season where they lost in a three game series against Randolph-Macon College.
The Bulldogs Softball team will also have a large road trip to start the year, beginning on March 2nd and going until April 12th. During this road trip they will start with a large chunk of neutral site games. Their home opener is April 16th against Hope College. The softball team had a record of 28-12 with a winning record of 10-2 at Home.
We all hope to see lots of success here on the campus of Adrian College as we root for our Bulldogs to go out and battle for victory on a nightly basis. Cheer on your Bulldogs and remember that students on campus get into sporting events for free so help support your friends in person.
