Adrian College Women’s Lacrosse has been off to a great start this year as they are 8-1 on the season as of April 2nd, 2025. This is a team that hasn’t performed this well in over a decade. The last time they did this well was 2014, when they went 12-6. The only other season since then that was above .500 was 2019, when the team went 8-7. This is the second year for Head Coach Amanda Asher; her first year was last year, when the team went 5-9. This year is considered a “restructuring” season as it is a new coaching philosophy. This year has been a big bounceback year for Coach Asher and the Bulldogs, showing that her coaching philosophy can lead to success. After winning 2 and losing 1 in the first 3 games of the season, the Bulldogs have been on a 6-game winning streak. In all 8 of the Bulldogs’ victories this season, they’ve scored at least 10 goals, whereas in the loss, they fell just short in a 12-9 decision against Ohio Northern University. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Polar Bears as they haven’t been victorious since the shortened 2020 season, where they won 9-5. Since then, the Polar Bears have outscored the Bulldogs 61-26 over 4 games.
Leading a hot Bulldog offense is Sophomore Madeline Turcotte, who is leading the team in assists with 34, showing that she is doing a great job setting up her teammates to score. Freshman Abby Malone is 2nd in goals with 22, bringing Turcotte to a team lead in points with 56. Turcotte also leads the team in Draw Controls (Faceoff wins) with 61, followed by Sophomore Sarah Gross with 20. Another Big leader for the Bulldogs is Freshman Goalkeeper Bella Norton, who has collected all 8 wins for the Bulldogs, in which she has 5 games where she has seen 5 or fewer shots, which shows the prowess and strength of the Bulldogs’ defense.
The Bulldogs had a matchup against Trine University scheduled for last night that has been rescheduled for Thursday, April 3rd at 4 pm. This game against Trine University marks the start of conference play for the Bulldogs, they are 10-7 against Trine University, 13 of the 17 being MIAA conference matchups. The largest margin of victory for the Bulldogs in this long history was 20-0. The Bulldogs finished conference play in 2013 and 2014 with an undefeated conference record; since then, they haven’t been in the Top 3 of the MIAA conference. Adrian has yet to break the Top 5 of the conference standings. A team that has been dominant since Adrian has fallen below the Top 5 has been Hope College, which has been within the top 5 every year since. For the last two years Hope has gone undefeated in conference play. Adrian will be looking to continue their streak of dominance during conference play coming up, starting with a trip to Angola, Indiana to take on the Thunder of Trine University.
Don’t forget to come out and support your Women’s Lacrosse team as they look to continue their streak on this historic season and look to extend their lead on being the most victorious team on campus.
