Adrian College softball will be opening at home against Franklin College on April 1. This comes after a long stint down in Florida with poor weather here in Adrian, our very own softball club is ready to open at home. Softball finished their run in Florida on a high note going 7-3 and winning their final game against Clark University. After this, they traveled back to Elizabethtown, Ky. for the Pioneer Classic where their time got cut short after only getting 2 games in the tournament was cancelled.
After this tournament, the Bulldogs travelled to Indiana for a series against Manchester University where they split a 2 game series, after this they went and played another 2 game series against Anderson in which they swept the series both games resulted in a mercy rule in 5 innings. The most recent matchup for the Bulldogs came against Heidelberg University on March 25, where they split a 2 game series, winning 12-1, and losing 11-3. This brought their overall record to 12-6.
This brings us to their opponent in the home opener, where they will host Franklin College. This is the first matchup between these 2 teams in 6 years, The last matchups the 2 teams had resulted in losses for Adrian with scores of 8-0, and 5-4; in the second game Adrian struck first in the top of the 4th inning scoring 1 in which Franklin responded in the bottom half of the inning. This would be all the scoring until the 7th inning where Adrian put up 3 runs in the top half of the frame putting them up with just 3 outs to get, however that wasn’t the fate for the Bulldogs that day as Franklin scored 4 runs in the bottom of the frame and walking it off against the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs are going to be out looking for blood this week.
