Adrian College is home to four sororities and five fraternities, all of which are gearing up to welcome more people to the Greek community. If you, the reader, are thinking about going Greek, here are some tips on how to find your brotherhood/ sisterhood!
Tip #1: go to the Greek Life events that are hosted throughout the semester. These events offer a great opportunity to meet those in the various chapters and get to know them on a more personal level before recruitment starts. This not only can help with your decision-making process, but also allow you to make new friends and connections.
Tip #2: keep an open mind during recruitment. While, yes, you might have an idea on which chapter you would like to join, try to build connections with members from all of the different fraternities/ sororities since all of Greek life is connected in one giant community. Discover each one for yourself and don’t feel that you have to follow where your friends go, everyone is different and unique and makes a different fit for each house.
Tip #3: step outside your comfort zone and be yourself! The best way to find your fit is to be your raw, authentic self and show off your personality. Be confident, ask questions, and be comfortable being uncomfortable during recruitment. It’s scary going in, but remember that everyone is nervous so again, just be yourself and everything will go fine.
The Greek community offers a fun opportunity to meet new people and discover life-long friendships along the way. If you’re thinking about going Greek at all, attend some of the events happening this week and next week and fully immerse yourself into the culture.
