The Adrian College TRIO Program sponsored an evening of Yoga, Meditation, and a catered dinner from Pita Delight in Tecumseh. Students came to de-stress from the weight of papers, projects, and late-night cram sessions.
Amila Zecevic and Keri Black, Director and Assistant Director of Academic Services, curated the event. AC Yoga Professor, Austeen Heeney, provided yoga mats and blocks to make the evening more comfortable. The class was led by Erin O’Flynn, Certified Yoga and Meditation Instructor, Adrian College Student, and TRIO Member. A total of eleven TRIO students participated in the event.
TRIO is a federally funded grant program serving students who are first-generation, low-income, and/or have a documented disability. TRIO students have the opportunity to participate in on and off-campus events designed to broaden their understanding of the world and their place in it, and to enhance their collegiate experience.
The Yoga event took place in the recently renovated second-floor conference room in Mahan. The venue provided the perfect atmosphere for relaxation and self-reflection. Participants enjoyed a thirty minute grounding practice, followed by a fifteen minute meditation, and then a meal of Middle Eastern cuisine and herbal tea.
